How tuition works

What tuition depends on, how it is billed, and what happens when life gets in the way.

  • Tuition depends on how long the lesson is (30, 45 or 60 minutes), whether it is private or shared, and the instrument. Glenna goes over the figures with you at the placement visit, in writing.

  • Registration

A yearly registration covers your student file, the placement visit and finding you a weekly time with a teacher. It is due when you choose your teacher and your time.

  • Billing

Tuition is billed monthly by autopay, or one term at a time if you would rather. Ask us which suits your family, and when the months with a closure are billed.

  • Help with tuition

Financial aid is available; ask us how to apply, at a placement visit or by phone.

  • Siblings

A second or third student from the same family is handled differently from a first. Ask us at the placement visit and we will explain how.

  • Missed classes and make-ups

If you tell us ahead that you cannot come, we try to find another time. If a teacher misses a lesson, we make it up. Jam evenings and group classes are not made up.

  • Instrument rental, method books your teacher chooses and recital costs are separate from tuition. Ask your teacher before you buy or rent: the right size matters on a cello and a fiddle.
